2025 Lecture and Symposium
OBJECTIVES
- Facilitate Deeper Understanding: To promote the study of Henri Nouwen’s spiritual theology and provide participants with an opportunity to delve deeply into Nouwen’s spiritual teachings and their relevance to modern life.
- Promote Spiritual Growth: To encourage personal and communal spiritual development through lectures and discussions inspired by Nouwen’s work.
- Foster Community Engagement: To convene scholars who study and teach Nouwen and create a space for dialogue and connection among individuals seeking to live out their faith in meaningful ways.
- Champion Academic Work: To advance the study of spirituality and spiritual formation as an academic discipline, explore the relationship to the disciplines of psychology, religious studies, theology, and philosophy, and promote Nouwen’s contribution.
- Preserve and Extend Nouwen’s Legacy: To honor and extend Henri Nouwen’s impact by encouraging scholarship that contributes to the transmission and interpretation of Nouwen’s spiritual writings and integrating his teachings into contemporary spiritual practice.
