Our Partnerships

Extending the legacy of Henri Nouwen is central to the mission and mandate of the Henri Nouwen Society.  Our aim is to develop partnerships with others of similar values and vision in order to foster community, offer valuable collaboration, and create a larger impact in our world today. We are convinced that it is better to do things together than alone.

The Henri Nouwen Society believes that Henri has something unique and essential for all caregivers. We have confidence in partnering with organizations from this sector so as to make the greatest impact for individuals living this reality.

  • L’Arche

Social Justice

Nouwen was an advocate for the poor and the marginalized, teaching that authentic spirituality and social justice are inextricably linked. We are very proud to have partnerships with:

  • Sojourners
  • Citizens for Public Justice (CPJ)
  • International Justice Mission (IJM)
  • Seeds of Hope Foundation

Young Adults

The Henri Nouwen Society is committed to introduce Nouwen’s spirituality to a new generation of spiritual seekers. HNS has formed a young student advisory council, and from them we listen and learn about what young people are in need of spiritually so that they can be transformed and nourished in their daily lives. We enjoy collaborating with various institutions where we can engage young adults through offering retreats and workshops, including:

  • Faith Connections
  • Office of Catholic Youth
  • University of Toronto, St. Michael’s College
  • Ryerson University
  • University of Toronto, Mississauga

The Henri Nouwen Society ensures that all Nouwen publications remain in print. We also develop new publications (books, study guides, webinars, online content, and audio/video releases) based on unpublished Nouwen content mined from the archives. We are very proud of our long history of partnering with various publishing houses, such as:

  • Penguin Random House (Convergent)
  • Harper Collins
  • Ave Maria Press
  • Crossroad Publishing
  • Darton, Longman & Todd
  • Orbis Books
  • Upper Room Ministries
  • Franciscan Media
  • Paulist Press
